Inspired by Andy Warhol's Christmas Tree

Christmas Tree print by Pop Artist Andy Warhol

Trees by first and second grade artists:

Andy Warhol Soup Can Group Project

Third and fourth grade artists looked images of Andy Warhol's iconic Cambell's soup can. Each student colored a soup can in his or her own original colors.  Each class chose one soup can picture to use for the whole group project. We cut the original picture into small rectangles, then cut larger rectangles with the same ratio. Each student made one or two pieces for our puzzle, then we put the together to create the whole soup can. Stay tuned for the finished pieces!

Thanks to Cassie Steven's fabulous art blog for the inspiration for this lesson!

Inspired by Andy Warhol's Flowers

Kindergarten artists learned about pop artist Andy Warhol.  We talked about how he made his prints of everyday items using bright, bold colors.  Here is one example Warhol's flower prints.  He made this print many times using many different colors.

Here is Andy Warhol with some of his flower prints.

Look at these flower prints! They take up a whole wall in an art gallery!

Kindergarten artists used different shades of green acrylic paint on glossy black boards.  After spreading the paint with brushes, they used forks to add the grass texture to the paint.  Then they added cut paper flowers.
