Eric Carle Animals

First and second graders went to see a performance inspired by Eric Carle at the Flynn Theater in Burlington. We read several Eric Carle books in preparation for this project. Artists painted paper and used it to collage and animal of their choice.

Zentangles!

Third and fourth grade artists discovered the joy of Zentangles. We created Zentangle landscapes for our Original Works fundraiser. We began the lesson by discussing what Zen means and how we can apply it to our artwork. I hope we can carry this focus and attention to detail with us as we work on other projects. I made photocopies of the Zentangles before we colored them to put in our pattern page drawer for free choice time.

Day of the Dead Skulls

Fifth and sixth graders learned about el Dia de Los Muertos, the Day of the Dead, celebrated on November 1st and 2nd in Mexico and other parts of Latin America. One of the traditions of this holiday is to decorate candy sugar skulls to display on altars dedicated to loved ones who have passed.

Wild animals for Original Works Fundraiser

Fifth and sixth graders chose to draw wild animals for their Original Works fundraiser artwork. We discussed color and composition as we planned for successful pieces of artwork.
