Day of the Dead Sugar Skulls

Fifth and sixth grade artists learned about the Day of the Dead and the tradition of making intricately decorated Sugar Skulls.  They used Sharpie Markers and colored pencil to create these unique Sugar Skulls.

Apple Art Inspired by Paul Cezanne's Still Life Paintings

Artists looked at examples of Paul Cezanne's still life paintings of apples and fruit bowls.

We used yoga to calm our bodies as we pretended to be apple trees. 

Then we used collage, printing and painting to explore making Apple Art.

Kindergarten Penguins

Kindergarten artist read "One Cool Friend," by Tony Buzzeo. They created cut out penguins using the guide below to help them.  They made a background using tissue paper and glue. These will be one of the option for the Original Works PTO fundraiser.

Fall Trees

The collaborative fall trees were made by grades K to 3. Kindergarten artists used sponge stamps to print the leaves then other classes outlined each leaf with oil pastels. Then we used these painted papers to construct large trees. 


Artwork inspired by Romero Britto by Fifth and Sixth graders


Fifth and sixth grade artists looked at the artwork of Romero Britto and noticed these themes: 
Bright colors 
Simple subject 
Broken up design with thick black lines 
Patterns 

They created their own pieces using these guidelines. These will be used for our Original Works fundraiser.
